What is Pilates? Pilates is a low-impact exercise system created by Joseph Pilates. It uses controlled movements to improve strength, flexibility, and endurance throughout the entire body. Our classes are designed to be accessible, effective, and fun for all abilities.
Is Pilates right for me? Yes! Pilates is for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or experience. The exercises can be easily modified to be more gentle for beginners or more challenging for advanced students. The focus is on doing each movement correctly and mindfully, not on how difficult it is.
What do I need to wear? Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, like leggings or shorts and a T-shirt. We practice in socks or bare feet.
What do I need to bring?
You will need an exercise mat. If you don't have one, just let me know, and I can provide one for you.
I’m not very flexible; can I still do it?
Absolutely! You do not need to be flexible to start Pilates. In fact, a primary goal of our classes is to improve your flexibility and mobility over time.
Are your classes a good way to lose weight?
Pilates is not a high-intensity cardio workout, but by building lean muscle and increasing your metabolism, it can be a part of a healthy weight-loss plan. Its main benefits are in body shaping, toning, and overall strength and well-being.
What happens at my first class?
Before your first class, I will ask you to complete a short medical questionnaire to ensure the exercises are safe and right for you. We will also have a quick chat about your main aims and goals so I can tailor the class to your needs. This ensures you get the most out of every session.
